Plot 

Another Gwanghae is not recorded in history

After Gwanghae become the king, political struggles lasted long during 8 years.
Gwanghae is getting more wild and violent because of threathning about assasination.
So minister 'heo gyun' decided to find someone who replace the king for awhile.
Finally, he finds 'Ha sun' (who is clown, so he can act like so similar)
So he is kidnapped by 'Heo gyun', and he must act like the king sometimes.

But one day, the king fall unconscious at no reason, so he must be healed secretly.
Minister order to 'Ha sun' to act like the king during the king is on cure.
It is hard to him to act like king because king has so many rules about every movement.
However, his servants likes him so much because he is softer and more warm personality.
Power of 'Ha sun' is getting bigger, so he says his idea more than before.
That makes 'heo gyun' embarrasing.......

The man who should not be the king become the King!

About background. It is hard to understand historical play to foriegners. But on the other side, it is good chance to understand korea by a movie.

Before we talk about this, I will tell you about basic knowledge about Korean history.
Josun dynasty was held in 1392. All king in Josun dynasty has 'jong', or 'jo'. that means king. For example, 'Se jong', he has 'jong'. and name of the king who make 'Josun' first is 'Tae jo'. he has 'Jo'. But as you already know, Gwanghae has no 'Jong' or 'Jo' on his name.

He was actually used to be called 'Gwanghae-gun'. 'Gun' was for prince, not for the king. That means he was downgraded. Because he was expelled by his servants. 'Yeonsan-gun' in the movie 'King and clown' is same reason with this.

This movie is only imagination. It is not a real about two person king.

Until 1990's, Gwanghae was used to say 'tyrant who has indecisive nature'
But recently that is changed by historian. He loved his people, so he made decision to reduce taxes and to send letter to enemy like 'please don't hurt my people'.

(This situation is very particular. it was connected to China. at that time, China was in internal war between new country and old country. servants in korea was on side of old country. Because some powerful servants thought 'Josun' was son of china.
-actually servants used to take power because of china's wealthy. so they thought they had to help old china country.)

but Gwanghae didn't think like that. He thought 'Josun' was separated country to china. he wanted 'Josun' was in same level with china, not as one state of China.
and that war had only harmful to his people. so he sent his soldier for old china country, and at the same time, he sent letter to new china country 'I don't want to be enemy with you. it is because old china country is forced me to do like this. please don't attack my people.'

He loved his people so much. and he had also pride about Josun, so he wanted to independent from china. also he reduced taxes to make better life for his people.
He is the king who we need now.
