Plot

'Jangseng' and 'Gonggil' are clown in Josun. they are playing in front of nobles, but they want to be more popular. they go to 'Hanyang'( capital of Josun).

They play so good at fun and sarcasm, so they are most famous clown in 'Hanyang'. but they are arrested as bantering the king.

'Gonggil' says 'If I make King laugh, release us'. so they are going to play in front of the king. however, it is first time to play in front of the king, most clown cant play that well. then 'Gonggil' who usually is shy play like a girl, and make the king laugh. satisfying their playing, king make their shelter in palace. 

They play more actively like sarcasm to nobles. king is satisfied, but nobles cant laugh, because it is their story. king notice that, so he make punishment one of them.

Second, they make playing which women fight in palace(to make king love themselves, women in palace used to fight{not real fight, but political fight, flattering).

it makes king remind his mother. so he kills her who make his mother die. 

'Jangseng' wants to leave, but 'Gonggil' doesn't want to leave at no reason.

About background. In this film, King is 'Yeonsangun'. I already said about 'Gun' in 'Gwanghae'. About 'Yeonsangun', he was most tyrant in Josun. but you must know about it first. when he was a baby, his mother(queen) has so many jealous(but nobody couldn't know because it was written by person who didn't like her). so his father 'Seongjong' made her leave the palace, and her died. After that, his stepmother raised 'Yeonsan'.(but she wanted his son to be king not 'Yeonsan'.) when 'Yeonsan' became king, he wanted to know who make his mother die. after he knew it, he killed everyone who connected his mother's dead. In this film as you see, 'Yeonsan' was crying ans killed people when he saw playing women's fight.

But he was not a tyrant when he became king first. he was very gentle and thinking always his people. I think he loved his mother so much because he didn't have mother's love when he was baby. and when he knew it was just women's political fight, his anger was exploded.

About 'Lee joongi', after this film, he became super star. in this film, he acted like bisexual. he was famous as man who is more beautiful than woman. but his acting is hidden by his face. his acting is good.

About korean clown. In josun, there was so many kind of sarcasm to king and nobles. there was so many bad nobles who took money from people. so clown used to play sarcasm which scold them. if you have more interest, you can google 'Talnolyi'. it means playing with mask.
