Plot

In Busan, 1982, 'Choi ikhyeon' who was official in customs was going to fire soon. when he was patrolling, he found a lot of heroin. because he was going to be fired, he decided to make money. so he met 'Choi hyeongbae', a head of biggest 'jojik' in busan. they found out they were in relative, so he worked with them. 

He knew so many powerful ones like judge or congressman, so they were getting bigger than before. because of fighting of 'hyeongbae' and lobby of 'ikhyeon', they became biggest 'jojik' in busan.

But in 1990's begin, government decided to so called 'war against crime'. because of that, they betrayed each other to survive.

About relatives. in this film, you may have question why 'hyeongbae's father bowed him. In korea, family genealogy is so much important to make relationship to others. for example, family name 'choi' is not just 'choi' literally. there is more under meaning in it. 'choi' can separated several family in it. like 'Kyeongju choi', 'Haeju choi', 'Suwon choi'. so if their name has exactly same family name like 'Kyeongju choi', they are in family relationship. but there is more like rank. for example, if someone has grandson and younger son than grandson, grandson must treat him like father. it means in korea, younger son is higher rank than grandson. actually it makes some confusion actually, but it is one of important to understand korean culture. 

About actors. because of this movie, so many actors are popular. 'Kim seongkyun' in 'Reply 1994' ( korea drama with 'Jungwoo') is getting popular because of this movie. you can find them in so many movie, but beginning of them is this movie.

About background. in 1980's, there were no laws to prevent crime. so in entire korea,

there were so many fighting against each other 'jojik'. but, from 1988, President decide so called 'war against crime', and it made so many 'jojik' dismissed. so now they just act in underworld.
