Plot

In June, 1950, Korean war revealed. and North korea pushed south korea until close to busan. UN decided to help south korea, but it took time UN military to arrive. Military of south korea must have to defense until UN military come. So military of south korea made defense line with 'Nakdong' river.

71 students military were suddenly made by 'Kang sukdae' and 'Jang bum' became Head of this unit because he got into battle once before even he just saved his life. So 'Jang bum' must have fought in 'Pohang'. But 'Gapjo' ignored 'Jang bum'. 'Jangbum' just waited 'Sukdae' coming back with UN, and he must have deal with his student soldier.

General of 766 North korea guerrilla unit, 'Park muryang', headed to 'Pohang' ignoring north korea order which headed to 'Nakdong' river. His idea was he occupied 'Pohang' first and directly go to 'Busan'. so they must have fought to occupy or defense 'Pohang'.

About Korean war, it was held in 25 june 1950. it is used to say because of invasion of north korea. it was tragedy in korean history. because they must have killed each other who were friends until war begin. First, South korea retrograded until 'Nakdonggang' close to Busan. then Incheon landing operation was success, South korea pushed until 'Ahprokgang' close to end of North korea. but military of china involved south korea went back to close to Seoul. and the war was end. According to time line, the whole story is 'Taegukgi', and first period (it is when south korea went back to 'Nakdong' river) is this movie, 71-into the fire. and almost last period (when back and forth in 38 line) is 'Gojijun'.

About student soldier. At that time, south and north korea didn't have enough soldier so they used to take student soldier draft duty. so like this movie, so many student who didn't have enough training sent to war. and after war, south korea took conscription system and also took student training system. student training system was one subject in school was battle training. sometimes, you can find white and black military clothes in other movie. It is student training clothes. but now, this system is over. so only in military, they trained.
