Plot

in 660. in korea, there were three country, 'Goguryeo', 'Beakjae', and 'Silla'. These three country always fight. a king of 'Silla', 'Kim chunchu', decided to revenge 'Beakjae' because of her daughter. so he asked 'Dang'(at that time, name of china country) to alliance. and their ally got into 'Beakjae' area. general of 'Silla', 'Kim yusin', promised abundance to general of 'Dang', 'Sojungbang'. but in middle of that, general of 'Beakjae', 'Kyebeak' who is rival of 'KIm yusin'.

At that time, 'Beakjae' was in middle of chaos. all nobles didn't listen king's order, so a king of 'Beakjae', 'Weoja', ordered his only one loyalist, general 'Kyebeak'. 'Kyebeak' decided to die in that battle, but he didn't want his family killed by enemy. so he killed his own family and went to battle.

Army of 'Beakjae' were only 5 thousand, and army of alliance 'silla' and 'Dang' were almost 50 thousand. at first view, 'Beakjae' was gonna defeated by 'Silla'. but after 4 battle, 'Beakjae' won 4 times all.

About this movie to foreigners. it is one of hardest to understand to foreigner. because in this movie, there are so many slang, dialect, and fur the more, historical basic comedy. i will do my best to make understand you. but i know it will be hard to you.

About background. basic history of korea.

Korean history is like this. there was first country, 'Go josun'. after that, it was divided to three, 'Goguryeo', 'Beakjae', and 'Silla'. they were fighting during 600 years. and finally 'Silla' united all. and after 300 years, it was divided again three, 'Hoo baekjae', 'Hoo goguryeo', and 'Silla'. 'Hoo baekjae' was destroyed by 'Goryeo' which changed name from 'Hoo goguryeo', and 'Silla' surrender to 'Goryeo'. and after 400 years, 'Lee sungkye' betrayed and he changed name as a 'Josun'.

this movie based on start of 'Silla' uniting. 'Silla' choose to defeat first 'Beakjae'. and 'Beakjae''s last battle was 'Hwangsanbul'. and 'Kyebeak''s killing own family is real.

About geological background. 'Goguryeo' was located in now north korea. and 'Beakjae' was located in 'Chungchungdo' and 'Jeollado'(it is south west in korea). and 'Silla' was located in 'Kyeongsangdo'(it is south east in korea). so you can hear several dialect in this movie. more detailed about 'Beakjae', its capital was located in now 'Buyeo'. you can go their rebuiled palace. It's very nice and so many things you can enjoy. and 'Hwangsanbul' is now 'Nonsan'. in summer or fall, there is a battle acting festival in there. maybe that would be fun too.

About dialect. I can't write all script in this movie. so i write a one word. 'Geosigi' is a dialect word in 'Jeollado'. it means 'It, That' literally. but sometimes, it used to mean pronoun of penis. this movie is first hardest one to translate to english from some review.
